This weekend, we had the opportunity to spend a Saturday with Habitat County of Wake County and sharpen our construction skills. We quickly learned which members of the Etix team knew how to operate a power tool and those who weren’t got to work with a trusty hammer and handful of nails. The theme of the day was “It’s Hammer Time” as we worked to install siding and roofing on the house.

We had the chance to work alongside the future residents of the house we were building and hear their stories. And after 8 hours of nailing siding into their house, we felt like friends.

Thanks to Habitat for Humanity for letting us join in on such a fantastic cause. We’re already looking forward to making this an Etix tradition!

Meet Paul Kelley. Paul was first introduced to Etix after moving to Raleigh in 2007 while performing as a local musician. Paul and his promoters used Etix for their ticketing needs, and he enjoyed working with Etix so much that he decided to officially join the team in 2011 when he took the job of Customer Support Specialist.

Paul is proud to tell people that he works for the largest independently owned ticketing company in the world. His greatest victory on the job was getting promoted to Equipment Specialist in his first year. As of right now he is the current leader in an ongoing prank war with Marta from the call center; his best prank was filling Marta’s entire cubicle with packing peanuts!

Outside of the office, Paul is an avid outdoor adventurer who loves camping, backpacking, rock climbing and fishing. Paul also writes and records his own music, and still performs live as a vocalist and bassist. You should check out his most recent work, The Future Is Me. When he isn’t performing, Paul enjoys attending other local concerts, with Radiohead at the top of his must-see list.

Meet Paul Laughter. Paul has been a key member of the Etix sales team since 2006. After a successful career in web app/site development, multimedia productions and record label/artist management (he co-founded a company!), Paul decided to take his talents and love for music to Etix, and we are all thankful that he did.

Since then, Paul has been entertaining his coworkers and clients with his humor and easygoing personality. His favorite part of working at Etix is getting to visit and work closely with his clients, and he claims that his greatest Etix victory was getting his very own desk (can you tell he’s got a sense of humor?).

Outside of the office you can catch Paul at a local concert venue, especially if Prince is in town. Even though he’s seen Prince live at least 10 times, Paul’s dream concert is to see Prince perform at First Avenue, a Minneapolis-based Etix client, which he came close to fulfilling when he saw Prince at the Dakota Jazz Club last January.

.Not only is Paul an avid concert goer, but he also collects music and is a self-proclaimed “funkologist”. Besides music, Paul also enjoys checking out the latest in technological advances, reading and traveling to new and exciting destinations.

From our founder Travis Janovich’s birthday, to the anniversary of several members of our Client Services team, the past few weeks have been full of celebrations at Etix! No complaints here, though–we love cake!

Our tennis-loving, plane-flying founder celebrated a very special birthday on April 16. Celebrations were in order, and we weren’t shy with the decorations.

Four members of our Client Services team, Amy Miller, Sam Shaber, Carrolle Miller and Jonathan Mitchell, celebrated their one-year anniversary with Etix. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of working with them at a live event, you know how wonderful they are!

Location: Cooperstown, NY

Founded: 2004

Website: http://www.ommegang.com

Mission: An annual summer beer fest that celebrates the best in Belgian and Belgian-styled beers.

Event History

In 2004, Brewery Ommegang, located in Cooperstown, NY, organized the first Belgium Comes to Cooperstown (BCTC). The summer beer festival has become an annual tradition for Belgian-style beer lovers everywhere. BCTC isn’t a typical beer festival—it’s a weekend-long event complete with live music, a five-course VIP dinner, cooking contests, presentations and even camping. The event attracts more than 2,500 guests and 50 breweries. The theme of BCTC changes yearly to add to the excitement of the event. Previous themes include Spinal Tap, Planet of the Ales and The End is Beer. This year’s theme is based on the 90’s hit TV show about nothing.

The Challenge

Provide a stable, scalable ticketing system for all online, mobile and point-of-sale transactions.

Develop packages for different levels of participation in the festival.

Allow Brewery Ommegang to focus on organizing and running the festival instead of worrying about ticketing.

The Solution

Used the Etix package feature to create packages for different levels of participation: VIP, General Admission, Festival Campout and Designated Driver.

Used Etix’s Client Services team on-site for scanning and ticketing management.

The Results

100% uptime for Etix.com during festival on-sales.

Attendance of more than 2,500.

Smooth access control and crowd flow.

Enjoyable attendee experience.
